Electric Duct Heaters

The electric duct heaters produced by Reart are formed by a series of interconnected heating elements mounted on a single structure/frame.

They are designed for heating airflows or inert gases and are used in industrial sectors that require precise temperature control and uniform heat distribution. Thanks to their structure, REART’s electric duct heaters ensure reliable performance and adaptable installation for various types of systems.

APPLICATIONS OF ELECTRIC DUCT HEATERS

Electric duct heaters are used for different types of industrial applications:

  • Air handling unit (AHU)
  • HVAC air conditioning systems
  • Industrial Paint Curing Systems (e.g. industrial ovens)
  • load cells for power dissipation
  • heating silos and autoclaves
  • drying, fume abatement, and air treatment systems
  • heating railway cabins

Furthermore, REART electric duct heaters are used in various industrial sectors:

TECHNICAL FEATURES OF ELECTRIC DUCT HEATERS

REART’s electric duct heaters utilize finned heating elements to enhance thermal exchange between the heater and the gas to be heated.

For high-temperature applications, smooth elements are used instead, forming the heating assembly of the electric duct heater.

Duct heaters are designed using advanced thermodynamic software, capable of determining operating parameters based on the client’s specific needs. The main defined parameters include:

  • Electrical power output needed for heating
  • Pressure drop during the process
  • Surface load or specific power
  • Maximum surface temperature of the heating element
  • Fluid flow rate inside the heater passage section
  • Electric duct heater dimensions and building materials
  • Operating conditions under standard working environments

The electric duct heaters, designed to be installed in square or rectangular ducting, pipelines or stacked for industrial furnaces, are in direct contact with the process gas to be heated.

At high operating temperatures, the electrical part of the enclosure is positioned away from the process to ensure optimal performance and prevent malfunctions.

Safety

Duct heaters are equipped with integrated safety systems:
• Thermal sensors
• Thermostats
• Thermocouples or resistance temperature detectors (RTDs)
to prevent overheating and ensure safe operation.

FAQ - FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

What are electric duct heaters?

Electric duct heaters are specially designed heating bundles used in industrial processes to heat air or gases to the required temperatures.

Electric duct heaters can be channel-type or cassette-type. In channel-type heaters, the heating bundle is mounted on a frame, which is later integrated into the process duct by the installer. In cassette-type heaters, the heating bundle is mounted on a flange and inserted into the gas passage section.

Electric duct heaters can be used in various sectors, such as industrial ovens, paint curing and drying systems, and in chemical and petrochemical industries.

Along with the custom-designed and sized electric duct heater, REART can also provide the control and command electrical panel, equipped with all necessary safety systems to ensure long-lasting performance and optimal operation of the client’s system.

Thanks to its extensive technical expertise, REART can design and manufacture electric duct heaters tailored to specific client requirements.
